In the realm of youth-led community initiatives, the Ghuri Youth Organization is making a profound impact on public health and social awareness. With a strong commitment to address the needs of underserved communities, Ghuri has implemented a series of health-focused campaigns that target some of the most pressing issues.
Among these, our menstrual health awareness efforts stand out. In addition to these efforts, Ghuri has also organized dental, eye and general health campaigns for children at our Ghuri School, reflecting a holistic approach to improving community well-being.
Through these initiatives, the organization is empowering individuals with the knowledge and resources they need to lead healthier and more informed lives.
Our Health Initiatives:
Blood Donation Drives: Our volunteers are dedicated to emergency blood donation drives which are essential for supporting local healthcare needs. We have a list of 200 active blood donors. We maintain their data live on a Microsoft Excel sheet. Whenever a donor donates blood, the date is updated. This allows us to see live who is ready for the next blood donation. When there is a need for a blood donation, we contact donors based on their area and specific blood group through the Excel sheet and connect them to those in need. This is how we manage our project, playing a crucial role in saving lives and supporting medical care in our community.
General Health Camps: We have arranged General Health Camp for our Ghuri School, since 2017. These camps provide comprehensive health screenings and consultations. We offer a range of services, including general check-ups, diagnostic tests, free medicines for seasonal flu, and overall health education. The goal is to enhance overall health, detect potential issues early, and promote wellness in the community.
Dental Camps: Our organization also arranges Dental Camps at Ghuri School compound. Here we offer free dental check-ups, treatments and preventive care. These events aim to address common dental issues and educate participants in maintaining proper oral hygiene, ensuring a healthier smile for everyone in our community.
Eye Health Awareness (2023): We also started a new venture for eye health awareness at our school focusing on improving vision health; this initiative includes free eye exams, vision correction services, and educational resources on eye care. The program addresses vision problems and promotes practices to maintain good eye health, crucial for everyday activities and learning.
Polio Vaccination Drives: While the government provides free polio vaccinations for all children, parents in underserved communities often neglect to vaccinate their children due to a lack of awareness. These communities are often plagued by misconceptions about vaccinations. Ghuri works to dispel these myths and promote vaccination awareness. In addition to reaching out to various slum communities, Ghuri ensures that all students in its schools are vaccinated.
