Ghuri Youth Organization is dedicated to ensuring that every child in Bangladesh has access to quality education. Our primary objective is to ensure that all children, regardless of their background or identity, have the opportunity to complete primary education.

Children who never attended school may face significant barriers to education, such as poverty, child labor, disability, lack of awareness or lack of access to educational facilities. They often have limited opportunities for personal and professional development. At Ghuri Youth Organization, we work to address the unique needs of those children.

For those who have never attended school, ghuri provide:

Early childhood education: Our preschool program prepares young children for traditional school, providing them with essential study materials and kits to help them stay engaged in learning and understanding the importance of going to a regular school.
Bridging the gap: We work with families to overcome barriers towards education, such as poverty and lack of awareness. Our volunteers continuously handle each student’s specific barriers in the most effective way. Parents’ meetings are organized at least once in a month at the school; in these meetings, parents are informed of their children’s academic & overall development. In addition, we organize courtyard meetings within the communities, where our students live. In these meetings, we strongly encourage all the parents to send their children to our pre-school. We share with them real stories of economic & social development of people through education. As an example, we selected a newspaper article in which it was described how a rickshaw puller’s sons completed his studies and brought financial stability to the entire family, allowing them to lead a socially advanced life. We share this article with them and also distribute the newspaper to those who can read. As a result, we get many new students in our pre-school through this type of courtyard meetings.
Holistic Development: We prioritize the holistic development of our students, focusing on developing their human qualities and developing their sense of social responsibility. Our cultural sessions foster creativity and self-expression, while our mental health education and support programs ensure their well-being.

Ghuri Health Camp: We conduct free health camp twice a year for our students. In this health camp we offer general medical screenings by engaging medical intern doctors from various medical colleges across the country.

In response to our invitation, they generously provide their services for without any remuneration. They assess students health condition, administer immediate treatment for minor aliments & refer cases requiring specialized investigation. We subsequently support patients in adhering to the prescribed medical regimen & offer financial assistance as needed. A specialized team for oral & ophthalmic examinations is also present in the camp.

In addition to this, we provide all the necessary support to each student for any physical & mental issues they might have.

Access to Education: For the families who cannot afford to pay school fees, we support these children’s continued education through funding the enrollment fees, the educational materials, and other things if needed. We also monitor their educational progress regularly.
Re-enrollment support: We recognize the crucial role of parental support in keeping children in school. For children who have dropped out of school, we work closely with their families to understand the reasons behind their decision and provide support to re-enroll them. We conduct individual and group sessions for parents to emphasize the importance of education and its long-term benefits. Our volunteers also engage in personal discussions with parents of at-risk students to encourage their continued education.

Vocational Education for Future Employment: Ghuri offer vocational training programs for community & students (above 18 years old) to make sure that they choose the best professional opportunity ensuring our students’ optimal development and financial stability. Our current focus is on training for operating machineries. We also have previously conducted sewing training workshops.

We advise them on where they can take these vocational training. Sometimes we ourselves enroll them in these related short courses. We provide all the necessary support for admission.

Work in progress

Education for All: We aspire to expand our educational initiatives to reach a wider range of children, including more of those who have never attended school. We encourage people of all ages, who have never been to school, to come to our pre-school for basic education.
To ensure nutrition: We plan to provide nutritious meals at school three days a week.
Community-Level Advocacy: We believe that social awareness starts at the family level. We plan to conduct more community-based activities, such as courtyard meetings, workshops, theatrical works and social events to advocate for education and promote its importance within the broader community.

Our Long-Term Vision for the Future:

Our long-term goal is to ensure that every child in Bangladesh has access to quality education. We aim to expand our programs, advocate for education policies, and build partnerships to create a more equitable and inclusive educational system.

We aim to expand our vocational training programs to cater to a broader range of students, including even those outside of Ghuri School. We envision offering short courses and workshops in various vocational fields to enhance employability and financial stability.
